What if every doctor could know what their patients really think? Report For Doc (www.reportfordoc.com) was founded based on this simple, yet powerful concept. Having worked as a global strategy consultant focused on customer loyalty for several years, Sergio Oliveira recurrently found himself designing management tools to enhance decision making for companies in various industries and geographies. Leveraging his experience of previous healthcare projects and relying on the assistance of his physician wife, Sergio wanted to build a patient survey tool that would be relevant to most doctors while also being easy to use and affordable. So, after leaving his consulting job, Sergio performed extensive research on the topic along with numerous interviews with doctors and patients. Report For Doc was then born.
Because doctors are busy professionals, the challenge was to create a service that requires virtually no effort to use. Sergio and his team developed an innovative and cost-effective process to accomplish this goal. Here is how it works: after subscribing online in five minutes the most popular plan is $65 per month per doctor - the doctor receives a
pack of survey invitation cards by mail (size of a business card). Then, during a medical visit, the doctors staff hands a card to the patient, who will subsequently use the unique code on each card to anonymously respond to the online survey using the companys website. Survey reports are confidential and shared only with the doctor. The service is now offered to doctors in most specialties in the USA.
Doctors using the service patient surveys say that Report For Doc allows them not only to gain honest and valuable insights from their patients experiences but also to demonstrate their commitment to excellence in patient care. For instance, some doctors learn that they needed to change their behavior during the medical encounter; others learn that the staff needed additional training. Doctors can also compare their individual results in each question with their peers in the same specialty and region.
Most patients appreciate being invited to express their opinions and feel that their doctors truly care about them. In five minutes, patients respond to the standard online questionnaire which contains about 20 questions on different areas like the doctor-patient relationship, medical staff and facilities. Survey respondents may also enter for a chance to win a sweepstakes, which increases response rates.
Finally, Report For Doc is environmentally and socially responsible company it prints the patient surveys invitation cards on recycled paper, it offers a much cheaper and eco-friendly solution than paper surveys, and it supports different medical organizations. A few months after going live, Report For Doc has been fulfilling the goal of improving healthcare for both doctors and patients.
